After reading Ida Mae, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the continuation. Her life was filled with hardships but she never held a grudge. I like the way the author brought offsprings from her past into her life. Ida Mae tells her story with such dignity. She may be gone, but never forgotten!
What a book!

I enjoyed this one better than the first Ida Mae book. Ida Mae had a rollercoaster of a life. Through the many struggles she faced, she always managed to stay strong kept her head held up high. This is a wonderful book.
So Sad That It Had to End

I was so sad to see Ida Mae die. To have gone through the trials and tribulations that this woman went through and to still come out on top is remarkable. She is an example that even though you get dealt a bad hand, you do the best you know how. Both books are books that can be shared with all women.
This book should be on the best seller list!

I am truly thankful for a chance to read this book. I thougt the first story was wonderful and the second book as just as good or better. Ida Mae is a woman that resembles one woman in every African American family. She is smart, talented, and educated which is what all women strive for in their lives. I hate that fact that Ida Mae lost so many people near and dear to her but I love the fact that she copes, nevertheless. Issues in this novel are real and need to be addressed. I am glad Ms. Thornton had the talent and intuition to put them all in her books. I won't go into detail about the book, but I feel it is a must read for all. I am getting married soon and I will give these two books to all of my female bridal party members. I await her next novel and I'm sure it will be the best.
This book should definitely be placed in everyone's library

This is a great book. I loved how Ms. Delores Thornton describes Ida Mae's life through the eyes of the director of nursing, Abby Gayle Jenkins. This book is so descriptive that you are drawn into the story and can feel Ida Mae's pain and sympathize with her when her 17 month old daughter Rose Marie dies. I really admired Ida Mae's strength and the love and support that she received from her husband, Arbuckle. Their trip to Paris was so vivid that I could envision attending the dinner party at Lord Oxnard's castle or sightseeing and taking in all of the points of interests. The trip to Disney World reminded me of my own trip there with my children. Ida Mae's first years in the nursing home were similar to isssues currently being reformed in Congress. Anyone who enjoys Zora Neale Hurston or Toni Morrison will love this book. Great job ,Ms. Thornton. I have both of her books and really love them. I hope there will be more books by this author. She is very talented and so detailed .
