The practical Principessa Iade, of the mountainous Kingdom of the Spring, is approached by the Priestess Sarelle to accompany her on an expedition into the high mountains. The Priestess is seeking the lost lair of the dragon Emeraldback and a holy relic of her goddess that it contains. Iade is reluctant, but is convinced by her ailing father, the King, to go out on the expedition with the priestess. The high mountains are cruel and unforgiving. They contain things that Iade has never dreamed of, and she will learn much about herself on this journey. Will the dangers be worth it? Will Iade and Sarelle find the lost dragon lair and the holy relic within? Will Iade return alive from the high mountains?
