This book has the intent of saying to survivors of trauma, any type of trauma, there is a path to healing and recovery. Trauma is not just physical and or sexual abuse. Trauma is any story that you repeat over and over in your mind. The repeating may come in the form of hallucinations, flashbacks, images, words, experiences, or any of a host of other things. Trauma leaves you stuck in life. Being stuck occurs because you mentally repeat the same sense of powerlessness and victimization over and over in your mind. This causes the survivor to repeat the same words, actions, and mannerisms that preceded the trauma. Many times this causes the survivor to be re-traumatized, either figuratively or as a recurring experience. This is all done on a subconscious level, and is not even noted by the survivor. The purpose of this book is to bring up to your conscious mind, these things so that change happens. As a result of reading this book, discussing its contents in private, within your own mind, or in a group setting with others, and thereby applying it to your life, you will experience your sense of power, or take your power back, reclaim your identity, and recapture the lost time in your life. This book uses the promises of the biblical texts, which says, "He restores my soul..." and "I will restore the years that the locusts have eaten." By reading, meditating, thinking about, alone or in company with others, in a group setting, you will experience recovery and healing. Individuals have used this book to reclaim their lives. The book is used as the foundation of the Transforming Trauma Through Transcendence Workshop. The subtitle of the book was originally, "A Ministry of Healing to African American Male Survivors of Prepubescent Physical and Sexual Abuse. The book uses as a particular population African American Males. The principles contained herein however are universal. Additionally the principles of healing are applicable to any type of trauma.
