Willey, Jr. * Personal: -Born in High Point, North Carolina in 1932; went with his missionary parents to Panama in 1937-1939, moved to Cuba with his parents at age 9. -Left Cuba in 1960. -His first wife, Emma Ruth, died of breast cancer in 1972. -He and his second wife, Ethel, live now in Bronson, FL. -They reared four children, now grown: Anita Kathleen, Thomas Randall, Elsbeth Rene and Laura Jean. * Education: -Bachelor's degree, Free Will Baptist Bible College( now Welch College), Nashville, Tenn. -Master's degree in Bible from Columbia International University, Columbia, S.C. * Career: -Missionary to Cuba (1956-60), taught in a seminary founded by his parents and work with youth of FWB churches. -Served as a pioneer missionary in the Republic of Panama (1961-1975), both in rural areas as a bush pilot and missionary pastor in Panama City. -After graduate school moved to Miami, Fl. to work with Hispanic Free Will Baptist churches and CONTACTO Magazine (1976-1983). -Served 25 years with World Relief of the National Association of Evangelical (1978-2003) as: Disaster Relief Consultant ( 1978-1980), Resettlement/Disaster Relief Director ( 1980-2003): 15,000 refugees, 10 nationalities, 3 hurricanes; Interim Hong Kong Director (4 months 1984) and Latin America/Caribbean Director (1985-86). -Retired to Bronson, Florida to write.
