I Was Busy Surviving was born from a recommendation of the authors therapist to begin journaling to overcome a difficult period in life. The collection of poems weaves together themes of surviving generational poverty, finding inner strength, self-sabotage, betrayal, and the beauty in rebuilding life and accepting once in a lifetime love. The author speaks to the challenges of day to day living that we all know exist, but rarely say out loud. As you read through each collection, she has us all asking ourselves "aren't we all just busy surviving?"

Author Bio: While journaling for a creative outlet, Christina found herself lost in words and a newfound passion for expressing emotion through poetry. It was through these poems that she began to understand how her childhood and early adult years shaped her and her decisions for decades to come. Determined to share her experience, I was Busy Surviving, is Christina's first book of poetry in hopes to reach those who are trying to reconcile the past with the future. Christina was born and raised in Kentucky, where she currently resides with her husband and three small children. Outside of her day-to-day work in healthcare, Christina finds joy in her relationships with her family and friends, maximizing as much time with them as possible. Most nights, after her children are in bed, Christina can be found on her patio enjoying a good book and uninterrupted conversations with her husband.
