When watching most documentaries on experimental movie makers and their experiments, they are too technical or artsy-fartsy. You can take about fifteen minutes, and then it is dullsville.
This, however, is a great documentary watching his 41 films in chronological order from the perspective view of Don Glut as he grows from a kid with a 16mm camera to whatever he is today. We learn with Don as he does all the exotic movie-making experiments that we wish we could have done in our lifetime.
I have seen both the streaming version and the DVD. The advantage of the two DVD presentations is that you get all the DVD extras, including a more in-depth look at his early movie attempts. The advantage of streaming is subtitling.
I especially like the fact that he almost got expelled from UCLA Film School because he made movies with comic book characters, as no one wants to see that sort of thing.
After watching this documentary, you want to go out and do it yourself.
