kid-pleaser for potty trainers (and their siblings)

My nearly three year old (mostly potty trained but still having accidents) loves this book, and his six year old brother loves reading it to him. They both think it's hilarious, and we always have to read it at least three times in a row. I guess I can understand others' objections to the book, but I watch my little boy easily identifying with the little potty training princess in her quest to master the potty chair. He clearly enjoys watching her journey through the process. As for the ending, it's so easy to add an, "oh well, that's okay", just as you would if your child had an accident.

Both my children & I love this book!

The illustrations are nice. There are only a few words on each page, so it is a quick read. The little princess is really trying, but sometimes you just can't make it to the potty in time & that's okay.

Just right for toddlers

We discovered this story in a large compilation book I bought just as my son was beginning toilet training. This story immediately became his favourite and he asked for it over and over, able to relate completely to the little princess' ups and downs with toilet training, and her eventual little accident on the floor. The sense of humour is exactly right for two and three year olds and our big story book is still known as "the potty book".

My daughter, the princess, has a potty too; she related well

My daughter related to the frustrations of using the potty and getting to it too late. Since we call her "princess" and she also has a potty, she thought the story was about her. So of course, she wanted to imitate the princess in the story. Within a week, my little girl was asking to sit on her potty -- quite successfully too
