This memoir did not begin as a grand plan but as a collection of scattered memories-fragments of a life lived across continents. Engineering, a profession built on precision and calculation, often leaves little space for personal reflection. Yet, as time passed and milestones came and went, I felt a growing need to document the extraordinary journey of my family and me.
Leaving behind the familiar comforts of Mauritius-a land rich in the scent of sugarcane and the rhythm of the Indian Ocean-felt like letting go of a part of myself. But the drive to provide a better future for my children pushed me forward. The years we spent in Canada and the United States were filled with challenges, growth, and the steadfast support of family.
This book is more than just a recounting of events, places, or roles I held. It's a reflection on the emotions, struggles, and triumphs of building a new life in unfamiliar surroundings. It explores the balance between professional ambition and family responsibilities, as well as the complexities of raising children across different countries and cultures.
By sharing my story, I hope to offer insight into the strength and beauty of the immigrant experience-highlighting both the challenges and the rewards of a life shaped by courage and determination in new and unfamiliar lands.
