I Saw Inmates is the story of a young man's journey out of poverty and up the "corporate" ladder in the field of corrections, during the expansion/explosion of United States' prison industry. Jeremy Pepper is bewildered and astonished by the parallel realities between the "inside," being incarcerated, and the "outside," living in the so-called free world. Nothing could prepare him for the experiences on which he was about to embark. For Jeremy the two unresolved questions are, "Exactly, who are these people? and "What the HELL?" They can't 'all' be miscreants. I Saw Inmates pull back the curtains as it relates to dealing with mass incarceration, overcrowding, and efforts to positively impact people, it clearly takes "a village."
