This is indeed a very valuable book for a student of story preaching. Thulin classifies personal story preaching into four different types, though that classification could be called a bit arbitrary. Out of the four types, the one called 'self portrayal' is the type that would be most effective. The reasons he gives are well thought-out and the examples are excellent. This would be a basic guidebook for those who intend to experiment with personal stories in preaching. The check list and the table at the end are particulaly helpful. If the book provided a good bibliography for the material dealt, it would have been a help for those who wanted to explore further on the subject.Xavier Thelakkatt
