Very intense, this book illuminates much-needed attention to the devastating long-term effects PTSD can have on a family when gone untreated. The traumatic childhood experiences documented in this book is heartbreaking. The book graphically depicts an environment filled with domestic violence from a child's perspective. Candidly, the author expresses fears and development of a child forced to make adult decisions for herself and at times for siblings and even parents to stay alive. The premise of the book isn't based on the author's marriage, as the title suggests. It's the destructive relationship between the author's parents which forms the book's core.
