Nice pictures and entertaining for young children.

This book is good to read to young children to teach them about self esteem and how to love various aspects of themselves. After reading the book, have the child talk about things that they like about themselves. It's a good way for children to start loving themselves.

FINALLY, a quality book of this kind!

Oh, what a relief and delight to find this book! I've been searching for a story of this sort to supplement an early childhood classroom library. The trouble is, I guess I've got pretty high standards. I'd find a story I liked, with sloppy, unengaging pictures. OR, I'd find a book with clear, impressive images but an awkward, stumbling text. I LIKE ME brings it all together. A refreshingly concise narrative featuring an african-american child and her family. No preaching, just a simple celebration of self that any child could relate to, with pictures that not only please the grown-up book buyer, BUT, more importantly, that also are uncluttered and lively. Recognizeable to a child without being stiff. A diamond in the rough, and a durable treasure to cherish!
