Old time actress

I bought this book because I enjoy reading about the old time actresses. The book didn’t disappoint. It’s well written by Gloria and her daughter and tells of her life in Hollywood as a actress starting out in the “silents” and her career in the “talkies”. As a child I loved Shirley Temple and didn’t realize Gloria starred in 2 Shirley Temple movies. It also touches on her romances, relationships with friends and her hobbies. This was a remarkable woman who succeeded in remaining relevant as she aged and didn’t fall victim to depression and isolation as she got old. You’ll like how the book ends and there will be a smile on your face.

Gloria Stuart, I Just Kept Hoping

Enjoyed this book on Gloria Stuart. It honestly revealed a Hollywood life in the middle of the Golden Era of films. It was funny and shocking with nothing held back and disappointing that she did not receive the Oscar for a wonderful performance in Titanic. A good quick read while being entertaining and informative.

Hollywood Dish

I enjoyed this autobiography of one of the Classic Stars of Hollywood mainly because, although she didn't spend too much time discussing the Hollywood years in depth, she did tell a very interesting story of world travels and personal interests and hobbies that I found worth reading. Also, it seems that just when life seemed to be at a low ebb for her, along came a new experience that booted her back up again and that is called survival. In her own words, she refers to her youthful self as a Dish and I certainly agree. However, I think she still makes quite a striking Dish today. This is a fun read that all can enjoy.

Refreshingly Honest!

At last a biography that is honest and to the point and doesn't whitewash anything. Those fans who spend their lives watching old movies in their basement and are shocked that their heroes and heroines ever had sex or a life off the screen will no doubt condemn it, but Gloria Stuart's integrity shines like a beacon! Brava!
