Enjoyable debut of Angela Clark's crazy adventures!

It's official. Angela Clarke is in love -- with the most fabulous city in the world. Fleeing her cheating boyfriend and clutching little more than a crumpled bridesmaid dress, a pair of Louboutins and her passport, Angela jumps on a plane, destination - NYC. Holed up in a cute hotel room, Angela gets a New York makeover from her NBFJenny and a whirlwind tour of the city that never sleeps. Before she knows it, Angela is dating two sexy guys. And, best of all, she gets to write about it in her new blog (Carrie Bradshaw eat your heart out). But it's one thing telling readers about your romantic dilemmas, it's another figuring them out for yourself ! Angela has fallen head over heels for the big apple, but does she heart New York more than home? The first of three installments from Angela's blog series.

fluffy escapism with extra shopping

This book is classic girly escapism and I loved it. Our heroine flees a bad relationship and goes to New York, immediately makes impossibly cool, beautiful and stylish friends, states flat-out she has a fairly unlimited credit card and bank balance, has a full makeover, shops a lot, and is asked out by lots of lovely handsome men who make her forget her troubles. The writing lingeringly describes the shopping experiences (Bloomingdales et al) and fully describes each outfit the heroine wears. My favourite novel is Madame Bovary, and this is totally the 21st century version (without the adultery and death-by-arsenic.) I enjoyed it more than any of Marion Keys books, even Sushi for Beginners, and it is frothier and even less realistic. This novel is not supposed to be realistic; it is idealized fantasy. If, like me, your fantasies include Marc Jacob handbags then you will enjoy this book. Perfect for holidays, or long wet weekends with hot chocolate.
