honesty

I was impressed at the self-honesty/evalution. Helped me to look at my own life.

Good reading for anyone in therapy, better for therapists!

I have been around for a while now, seeking out peace and understanding. Through various self help/we help and spiritual practices many make it all too esoteric, complicated, long and drawn out. This is yet another great book that cuts to the chase with Bobs real life story to finally get to the real stuff behind feeling bad. The saying "we are the sum total of our experiences" is true and our childhood is where the foundation was built. There have been a number of issues in my own life that I simply didn't know why they were there. Bobs story tells of his own effort and successes in dealing with his own addiction, comming from a alcoholic/dysfunctional family and getting to know, understand and love himself. This stuff takes years to work through and it is difficult find such wonderful first hand information to help on that journey. Great book. I have a signed copy from Bob Earll but have to return it (sadly), so I am getting a couple of copies but wi! ! ll resist the temptation to give one to my mother.

easy to understand and to relate to

I've been reading lots of books on ACOA and this is the best so far. The author makes you feel like it's just you and him in private conversation. He understands how you feel and helps you to understand how you feel. I recomend this book to all my ACOA friends.
