I don't remember taking this photograph

By Simona Stefanakova Garcia

Some photographs preserve memories. Others preserve moments we no longer remember making.

I Don't Remember Taking This Photograph is a personal photographic journey through Dublin and its surroundings by Simona Stefanakova Garcia.

Street musicians, unexpected encounters, ordinary objects, changing light, food, architecture, animals and fragments of everyday life appear without trying to become landmarks. Together, they form a visual record of what caught the eye-and what remained after the circumstances of taking the photograph began to disappear.

Moving between the familiar and the peculiar, the public and the private, the book considers photography as a form of accidental memory. A camera records details that the mind may overlook, allowing an ordinary moment to become significant only when encountered again later.

Quiet, playful and sometimes unexpected, I Don't Remember Taking This Photograph is not a guide to Dublin. It is a collection of traces: a city and a life remembered through photographs.

For readers interested in contemporary photography, artist books, street photography, visual storytelling, memory and everyday urban life.
