I was brought up in between Parker St. and Bickford St. on Center Street (before the projects)and gone to all the same Schools. My sister Carole was a year behind Fran and my Brother Charles Hewson was a year ahead of her. I loved the book it was just so nice and easy reading, we couldn't put it down. After I read it my Mom (who is 92) wanted to read it and now my sister Carole is reading it. I bought another one for my brother and sent it to him; he lives in Washington state and I didn't want my copy to get missplaced. ha ha I wrote a letter to Irne Downey and told her about the book she lived on Park Row, and also Janet Witterkind, she also lived a couple od doors down from us. All fo our responces are wonderful...every one that has read your book LOVES IT!!! Maureen Hewson (I was three years behind you in school) 7825 McPherson Dr. New Port Richey, FL

This book touched my heart, it made me laugh and it made me cry. Fran Vitello Murphy brought highlights of my childhood years flooding back to me. I enjoyed every generation as though I were a part of it. I am 3rd generation American, Italian but she fills me with so much pride in my heritage and my family that I was overjoyed with every chapter. I have to say I have never been more proud of my ancestry as I am today. And why shouldn't I be. She's my mother. "Grazie Mama" you've made us all so proud.
