The Apostles' Creed is considered to be a faithful summary of the Apostles' faith and teaching. Pope Benedict XVI reminds us that, "Christians in the early centuries were required to learn the creed from memory. It served them as a daily prayer not to forget the commitment they had undertaken in baptism." In his Apostolic letter for the Year of Faith (2012-2013), the Holy Father encourages us to "rediscover the content of the faith that is professed, celebrated, lived and prayed, and to reflect on the act of faith." He further states, "Religious communities as well as parish communities, and all ecclesial bodies old and new, are to find a way, during this Year, to make a public profession of the Credo."This lectio divina journal is designed for Catholics to be used in conjunction with praying the Apostles' Creed. It encourages anyone who desires to grow in their faith to take each of the articles of the Creed and meditate on them using carefully chosen Scripture passages and the lectio divina prayer model.
