I Am Still Waiting: Buddy is not home yet

Buddy went out through the front door, and he did not come home.

This is a short book written inside that loss, while it was still happening. Not looking back on grief from a safe distance - written from the middle of it, with the door still open and the waiting still going on.

It does not tell you that a loss is not really a loss. It says a loss is always a loss. It has a depth, and it is ugly, and pretending otherwise is no comfort to anybody. What it does instead is look at what a father's heart does with loss, and find that God is not standing outside the pain, explaining it. He is inside it, waiting too.

For anyone who has lost something they were told they shouldn't grieve this much for.
