A crisis is a profound blessing, gifted to us for our growth and evolution. Whether it is a job loss, bankruptcy, the passing of something vital in our lives, unemployment, or illness, most crises are impossible to prepare for. They catch us off guard, without warning. They steal our breath, alter the rhythm of our hearts, and split our lives into two unequal parts: the time before the event, and the breaking point itself. And then-you feel paralyzed.
Everything around you has come to a standstill. You feel pain, regret, perhaps guilt, shame, grief, anger, resentment, or utter helplessness.
This period is not meant to destroy you. A crisis only serves to help create your new identity-the person you can become and who you truly are at your core.
The beginning and the very heart of any crisis is our internal disagreement. It is this resistance that blocks our energy and resources. We believe this shouldn't have happened-certainly not to us. We feel we don't deserve it, that it's unfair, that the world is unjust You have a right to all these emotions. However, they will not grant you liberation or inner peace.
Instead, I offer you something that you will likely reject at first: Consent. Agreement with everything that is happening and everything that has ever happened to you. It is this very Consent that grants the freedom and energy to transition into a completely new, resourceful state.
