In everyday work, there is frequent discussion about the desired FiO2 values for ventilators. While clear guidelines are in place for induction and extubation, there are no uniform specifications or recommendations for oxygen concentration during surgery. Oxygen is by far the most widely used medication in general anaesthesia. In addition to oxygenating the body, oxygen also has other positive and negative effects.
