When Hygon, aged 10, finds he is totally alone at the beginning of a long, hard winter he wonders if he will ever again hear another human voice.

His once bustling village is deserted, his clan have been killed. He struggles to overcome the simple problems of keeping warm and feeding himself, until the first signs of spring bring with it a new challenge. He stumbles across and infant Skron, an airborne species of beast that hunt by night during the dark, winter months and are responsible for his solitude. He battles his own emotions and in time, befriends the abandoned baby who he names Zakron and who, in turn, brings him the companionship he has so longed for.

When Hygon discoverers scavengers have arrived near his village he is forced to make a decision far beyond his ten years. He packs provisions, tools and hunting equipment and leaves the safety of the only home he's ever known, to travel through unknown territories in search of a new home for them both, with only an ancient hunting map to guide him.

Hygon's Tales is the story of one boys bravery and self discovery as he travels down a road in search of peace and acceptance that will lead to the biggest adventure of his life.
