Hurry, Shepherds!: A Christmas Bible Story

By Shavin Joseph

Good news is waiting in Bethlehem.

Mary and Joseph have traveled a long way. Out in the fields, shepherds are watching their sheep. Then an angel brings a message that fills the night with joy: Jesus has been born.

Hurry, Shepherds invites children ages 3-9 to follow the story from God's promise to Mary to Jesus' birth, the shepherds' visit, and the wise men bringing gifts. Short passages and warm, colorful pictures make it a welcoming book to read together.

This gentle retelling draws on selected events from Luke 1-2 and Matthew 1-2. It includes forty illustrated story pages, a Bible-reading guide, questions for discussion, a drawing activity, and a short prayer.

Share it during Advent, read it at bedtime, or bring it to Sunday school. Let children ask questions, notice the pictures, and hear the good news of Christmas.
