"Hurricane Katrina" provides a good overall overview of that disaster, including both scientific and human aspects to the story, and a number of interesting photographs. While a bit inaccurate in some areas (eg. it "soft-pedals" the rationale for levee collapse), the emphasis is on providing enough detail to be useful without getting the intended audience (school pupils, and their parents) embroiled in the hot politics of who failed to do what, etc. The book also provides a timeline overview, Internet sources for further information, and credible (but not overburdening) endnotes.
