When evolutionary biologists Roberta and Victor Morland relocate to a cozy hamlet in rural America, it's not long before the neighbors begin knocking on their door with invitations to join into community life. What starts out as a seemingly benign interest in their affairs gradually turns sinister. As the somewhat too friendly pillars of the community press for conformity, Roberta and Victor's initial annoyance turns into genuine fear. With nothing to guide them except their own intuitions and some help from their quirky but lethally intelligent family members, they attempt to expose a dark mystery and an unforgivable violation. Grigat keeps the reader spellbound in this tale of intrigue, human nature and resilience. This well crafted black comedy will have readers shouting for more.
