Perfect for your bedside table

When Bill Seaton fled the East Coast 40 plus years ago (he was allergic to snow) his friends feared he might grow up and get serious. They need not have worried -- he's as zany as ever and his chronicle of his family's coping with the ordinary and the unfamilar (including all kinds of animals) is great fun to read. He is a master of the witty turn of phrase; his humor is neverharsh and mostly directed at himself. This book is perfect for your bedside table. If you read Stephen King at bedtime, you'll have nightmares. Read Seaton and you will go to sleep laughing and next morning wake up happy.

When Times Are Bleak, Read a Funny Book

I don't know about you, but when times are looking rather bleak, whether it's the economy, war or a personal tragedy, I like to read something humorous. Bill Seaton's book fits the bill (no pun intended.) It made me snicker, then chuckle, then belly-laugh. What a fun read about a delightful journey from D.C. to La-La Land in Southern California! This book would be a great gift to cheer up a shut-in or send to a loved one in the war zone. It's reminders of a kinder, gentler time when we could laugh despite trials and tribulations are an instant mood lifter.

Belly-Laughs Galore

Among a host of admirers, Seaton's "Sayings" have always created belly-laughs galore. Now a whole new generation will have an opportunity to join in the hilarity. He is a master raconteur who makes his encounters with ordinary citizens and events just as fascinating as his escapades with the dozens of celebrities who have peopled his life and this book. It's a delightful read.

A witty, well-written book

For anyone who comes from a large family or has several children of their own, this book is a must read. It is funny, nostalgic and full of memorable episodes featuring the Seaton family as they adjust to life in southern California in the 1960's, 70's and 80's. Like me, you'll find many things to relate to and have a hard time putting the book down. I read it non-stop all in one afternoon. Make sure you have a tissue box close by because you'll laugh so hard the tears will flow. Buy it now. You won't be disappointed.

Top of its class

Bill Seaton goes straight for the jocular in this hilarious account of his family's migration to the West Coast and their adventures and misadventures thereafter. Had California been less of a far-out state, it and they probably would not have survived. I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of increasingly zany annual reports.
