This book is a treasure

A small book that goes straight to the root. Andrew Murray's Humility is barely a hundred pages, but it reads like a diagnosis and a cure in one. Murray's central claim is that humility isn't one virtue among many - it's the soil every other virtue grows in, and pride is the root of every sin we keep trying to prune at the branches. What makes this book different from modern self-help takes on humility is that Murray never treats it as thinking less of yourself. He treats it as the natural posture of a creature before its Creator, modeled perfectly in Christ, who "emptied himself." It's convicting without being crushing. Murray writes like a pastor who has actually fought this battle, not a scold pointing fingers. Some of the 19th century language takes a minute to settle into, but the payoff is worth it. This is one of those books you finish in an afternoon and then chew on for months. Highly recommend for anyone who suspects, correctly, that pride is sneakier than they think. Five stars.

Excellent book with wise insights to humility and holiness

Excellent book about humility and dying to self. Surrendering and allowing God to have his way in our lives. I highly recommend if you are wanting a deeper walk with God

Elementary

Nothing deep here, and author's frequent term "allow GOD," is irritating We don't "allow GOD" to do anything. He does what He wills in all His creation.

A pivotal book in my spiritual walk

A must read for anyone who desires to love and follow Jesus wholeheartedly. I became aware of much pride in myself only after pursuing humility. This book teaches from scripture the roots of pride, Jesus’ ministry of humility, and much more. I will refer to this book often.

With all thy getting, GET HUMILTY

If you really think about, Christ's primary attribute is humility. We think His primary attrbute is love. But how could Christ even have come to earth and loved us but for humility. This book opened my eyes to the fact, if this were such an attribute in Christ, I must allow Him to work it into me as well.
