In a society divided, Max Greenfield is caught between two worlds: human and cyborg. Working for the Bureau of Cyborg Affairs, Max sees the hatred and compassion of both and is frequently at odds with his fellow humans. When a neighbor, Rachel, is accused of being a cyborg, Max comes to her aid and incurs the wrath and contempt of his family and friends. His attempt to defend Rachel during an attack on her home sends events spiraling out of control and plunges Max into the frightening and brutal world of the cyborgs. As the threat of a cyborg uprising grows, Max is forced to choose sides in a war for the future of both races.
