I really enjoyed "How To Succeed" because I'm only a few years out of ad school, and reading about how the greats became the greats was interesting and inspiring. There's no other book like this one, where you get more than one person's perspective. Pick this up, whether you're just starting out or need a reminder about how cool this industry can be.

Great read, first I read it in random chapters then I read it from front to back, now I am highlighting the priceless insights from advertisings best. This book almost put me in the room and certainly in the heads of the greatest creative mind of the last thirty years - first their thoughts and then their work and a chance to look at it though their eyes and then my own. As the president of an internet branding company, this book has inspired me to push everyone - our teams and clients to a reach for whole new level of creative innovation and success. Minsky's book is a fascinating read beyond advertising. Anyone interesting in marketing, business, creativity, or just the human side to developing iconic ideas and brands that touch us all should pick up this book today.

Gets to heart of advertising

Full of interviews, photos and clear profiles of the most influential creatives and their ad campaigns. Recognizes the quality work in advertising and the "guts" of what it takes to make it in this business. Avoids cliches and soundbyte advice, but goes into the complex personalities of the people who are behind some of the classic campaigns. Well written and well organized. As an award-winning copywriter myself, I have often turned to this book for inspiration or for a "reality check." It belongs on the bookshelf of anyone starting out or well into the advertising business.

I've read alot of books on this subject but this gives you the dirt. What it takes in the words of advertising's "living legends". This book and Maxine Paetro's "How to put your book together and get a job in advertising" are all highly recommended for young creatives hoping to break into advertising
