For English speakers wanting to communicate with Brazilians in Portuguese, some interesting confusions can arise: - They will hear pois não, and think it means "no" - They will say obrigado in... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I found this book at a bookstore in São Paulo and I purchaced it right after I looked inside. The book tells you about hundreds of small phrases you would need in the life in Brazil. Above all, I liked the friendly but polite tone Mr. Martinez uses throughout the book. As he said, this may be a book for an adult person. I am a native Japanese speaker, but I felt lucky being able to read it. For example, you won't find these expressions in other phrase books: "Feel free to ask any questions at anytime during the presentation." "Could you send me any literature you have on...?" "Am I boring you?" "They made me feel very welcome." "I can't bring myself to throw it away." "I forget my own name sometimes." In this book, you will find them with many other similar ways of saying them. And they are very useful! Um ótimo trabalho! (Mr. Martinez has done many collaborations with other language experts and now, as far as I know, there are "Como dizer(escrever) tudo" series on English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and even Chinese. I even bought the French version because it was much more useful than most other "how to write in French" books.
Amazingly Good

I purchased this book while in Brazil; it is superb. My Brazilian friends confirmed that the phrases are quite accurate and the stories and tips, as mentioned in the editor's review, lined up closely with my experiences. Highly recommended.
