The best way to get turned on to service: easily read & warm

One would usually expect that life-changing books would come from the category of self-help, but I really feel that this guide to customer service has changed my life. Before I read this book I had a strong interest in customer service, but the accessibility and clarity of this book has reached out through the pages and grabbed me by the collar and by the heart. I can see that my working life will never be the same, and it may well even improve my private life! The "take home message" I got from this book is that a service orientation is not a way to do better business - it is THE ONLY WAY that makes any sense at all.Even beyond good business sense, there is a quality of life issue here. People feel better about themselves as both customers and employees when good service is given. Of course, we are all customers, even within our own organisations when we deal with colleagues in other departments or branches. I'm not an avid reader, so I appreciated the clear and easily read presentation. I particularly enjoy all the real life examples of good and bad customer service - and what they say about the underlying service philosophy of the companies concerned. Thanks Jeff, you may have inspired me onto a new career path. My current employer should thank you, too!
