Simple and effective way to get out debt and save more money

This book is one of my favorate finacial books because of it's simplicity. To day I use it as back up to my computer program, but the system is the same. I like this book book because it is simple and Mr. Moe explains how to do everything, unlike some other Authors that leave you hanging and wondering. Any one can use the system he suggests. Mr. Moe covers everything from setting goals in the beginning to staying on track after you are moving. He talks about set backs and what to do and give simple and sound advice. There are plenty of examples to use so that you full understand what he is talking about. Others fail to do this. Though the book was written in 1983, it is still relevent today. Chapter 1 Let's Set Some Goals- explains the important of knowing what you want and what you would like to achive. You need a clear picture before you can start painting. You need a map before you start heading in any direction. Chapter 2 Laying the financial Plan- Setting Goals is only half the picture, you need to start on your journey by mapping out you cource. Here the map is a budget. I know this is a dreaded word, but he shows you how to develop one and use it no end. It is a tool, not a chain. Chapter 3 60 minutes of Keeping Up- One the map is complete, you need to start documenting all of you income and expences and compair them to your budget. It shows you where you over estimated and underestimate you budget. It shows you exactly how you are progressing. Chapter 4 When Surplus is a shortage- Mr. Moe explains how you can reconize a shortage nad how to fix it. Don't worry about the shortages, you may have them in the beginning. Chapter 5 I can see Clearly now, but...-Mr. Moe clears up some loose ends and reservations you may have. How do you know you are successful, etc. Like I mentioned earlier, most of what Mr. Moe teach will be more helpful if you have a computer, but you do not have to have one. You can still do it the way he shows, manually. The only thing that did not work for me was to use my surplus as savings, I found that I never had any. So I took 10% off the top as an expence rather then a surplus and it seemed to work out fine. Now I am debt free. I recomend this to all who seek to get out of debt and be wealthy. Don't look for investment advice, this is not the book for that. Enjoy

The best little book on personal finance.

First, read the other reviews for this book because they are right on target! This is a great little book that gets right to the point...how to make your money work for you. It is a simple, yet effective plan for reaching your goals and managing your money. If you want a book on investing and frugal shopping, this is not the book. This book is all about planning and making that plan work. I strongly recommend this book.

How I bought the farm

With little money to deal with, I couldn't believe that this book could do anything for me. Finally after a year of letting it collect dust, my husband and I tried it out. We set goals for 1,3,5 and 10 years separately and then together. In less than three years we purchased the 5 acre farm with farmhouse just by following the instructions in this little bitty book. I recommend it very highly to anyone who is in debt and wants out and to anyone who just wants to get more out of the money they make. Like I said, you don't have to have much money -- this books tells you step by step how to use it better.

This Is A Great Money Management System!

I read finance books as a hobby. Of all the books I've read on budgeting and personal finance, this is the best. I use this system today and have for several years. It does not teach how to invest. It does not focus on getting out of debt and staying out of debt, though you will be able to do that if you follow the system. It shows how to set up a simple but effective budgeting system. My recommendation: read it!

This book is very important to help you figure out your $.

By the end of just the second chapter (if you follow the directions and do what it says) you will be so pumped about this book. You will feel like you finally got your life into gear and can actually SAVE MONEY to buy things in the future and save for emergencies when you never have been able to before! This book is awesome!
