This is the second book in the Kate Williams series. Kate, a former Chicago attorney, takes a job with the County Attorney's office in Phoenix. Stan Rantwist believes he has been charged by God to rid Phoenix of all vice. The problem is that his fixation on sex crimes (e.g., public exposure) causes him to neglect more serious crimes, such as drug trafficking. It would be easy enough for Kate to ignore what is going on and collect a paycheck. Instead, she launches her own investigation with the help of two quirky assistants. As with "How to Ruin a Vacation," Kate is an intelligent, razor-tongued Chicago gal who doesn't take "bunk" from anyone. There is a romantic interest for Kate as well as a bonus for dog lovers--a golden retriever who has a supportive role in the book. A quick, snappy mystery with crackling dialog.
