Every cat lover will love this book

I grew up with my mother, a great big fluffy black cat, and this book. All three taught me to love cats. Decades later I can still re-read the stories of the author's cats and smile or laugh with delight. Of course some of the practical advice is outdated, but the writing style and the joy that fills the pages are most decidedly not. Buy this book even if you don't like cats; surely you know someone who does. I promise you they'll love you for it. And after some reading, you might find yourself liking cats just a little, too.

This is the best, most literate guide to cat ownership avail

This book has been the family bible on cat care since the 50s. While its information is a little dated (especially the health care stuff), it's a sheer pleasure to read, and I hope the current editions have retained the fantastic cartoons drawn by the New Yorker cartoonist Roberta McDonald. My own edition is lovingly worn, with coffee stains harkening back to a time in the mid-60s when my parents were up all night caring for a litter of Siamese newborns, temporarily abandoned by their mother. I read it again and again now, mainly for the reading and a peek into life in New York City in the 50s when the author was living with her cats Ma, Pickle and Charlie.Read this book for the love of cats. Read this book for the love of words. Read this book for the love of the supremely urbane cartoons that come with. Read this book, period. It deserves to be updated and revived. It *definitely* deserves to have a better sales ranking than in the millions.
