I really enjoyed the first few chapters, they felt like something you’d expect from Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy. Unfortunately, it takes a pretty big turn from what made it so captivating and instead focused on the narrators personal problems.
I thought the story was going to be more about a guy and his dog traveling through time and meeting science fiction characters in quirky situations, the first chapter or two almost promises that. Then it shifts to unresolved issues between the narrator and his father and it never finds its way back. Had it of found a way to work in a little bit of time travel mischief, I think it would’ve made the journey rewarding.
That being said, it kept me engaged and I finished it in just a few days. Not a bad book, it just failed to meet the expectation it set for itself in the opening
