Timeless advice on how to live well--cheaply

I've kept this book, a fromer library copy, around for many years. It is a classic in the self-help genre of "living well on little cash." It predates the later Tightwad Gazettes etc...I like the tone of the book as it is upbeat and kind of Helen Gurley Brown era. If you come across a copy, it is worth reading although the financial figures are completely out of date.

Still following her advice - since the late 70s

Perhaps this was a case of the right book at the right time - just when I was getting out of graduate school and into my first job - but this was one of the most influential books in my life and I still have my original paperback copy. I learned to believe that I could not have it all but I could have what I really wanted. More importantly, I learned it was OK to want and have what I really wanted. Because of this book, I have built a life for myself where I economize on things that are not as important to me (despite peer pressure to do otherwise) and splurge on what is important to me. This book is still relevant to me as I continue to work in areas that I have not completely mastered (such as a wardrobe with fewer pieces).
