The King of giant vegetables

This is a great book for gardeners, even if your interest is just to grow normal size vegetables and you don't care to grow giant vegetables. To grow vegetables this large, Lavery first had to be a very good gardener. For those who don't know of him, Lavery has more records for giant vegetables than anyone else, both world records and British records. And this book is not just about pumpkins or squash as most books are these days, it is about 16 or so different vegetables. For each vegetable, Lavery analyzes each aspect of the growing process, with a special section on the hazards associated with growing each vegetable. If you were new to growing vegetables and could only own one book on growing them successfully, this would be one of the best books to have. The book is also a great inspiration for those wanting to grow large vegetables in part because of the great photos.

The book helped me grow a 75.75# rutabaga, new world record.

I had a hard time finding the book in the begining but I'm glad I keep looking. It is a must for those trying to grow giant vegetables. I had been growing giants for about 5 years prior to purchasing the book, it gave me invaluable incite that has helped me grow bigger veggies. It also tells you a little bit about what Guinness expects when trying to break a world record.
