Dana Marie Rivas was born in Washington, D.C. on March 19th, 1978 and grew up in Fort Washington, MD. She graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in May 2000. She is the middle child in a family of three girls. The inspiration for this book came one day while I was on my lunch break at work, chatting with an old friend. It seemed she and I both - and another friend of hers were all going through a mid-life crisis at only 26 years of age. We didn't feel the satisfaction and purpose we thought we were supposed to feel at this point... having "made it" by the worlds standards. We all wanted to quit and run away to go live and volunteer in a remote village somewhere on the other side of the world...thinking that maybe this would give us the satisfaction and sense of purpose and passion we were missing. After analyzing this for some time, I realized that we felt let down and bamboozled by lies and false promises that main stream society and our families pass on to us growing up unknowingly. The false promise that if we study hard and get prestigious jobs or make allot of money that this is what leads to happiness and a feeling of success and personal fulfillment in life. I realized that this isn't true and I discovered what was missing. I wrote this book to help others identify the lies and false promises that they are/may have fallen for, and to lead others to their truth through journal exercises.
