I am an elementary school librarian and always feel very lucky when I find a book like this. I like that it is not a story book. I get tired of reading stories, so do the kids. Second through fifth graders love this book. The first time I read it to a class I don't know who laughed the loudest, me or the students. They especially liked Sparky and what happens when he sneezes. I enjoyed the Dweeb myself. It is a refreshing twist on dragon stories.
Cute.

This was a good book even though I am a little too old for these kinds of books, i had fun reading it and looking at the differ. kinds of dragons in the back of the book. I liked the Nidget the best. My friends and i had fun picking wich ones we liked the best and naming them. (dont tell the boys that though). This was a good book.
A dragon as a pet? You bet!

The husband-and-wife Lindahn team have produced another colorful, fun book. This one is a little more of a story book than The Secret Lives of Cats: In it, Melissa, a twelve-year-old whose uncle owns a pet shop, gets the assignment of test-driving the new shipment of dragons. Melissa's report shows that there are dozens of species to choose from, including some very large Thumpers and some very tiny Nidgets. The illustrations are detailed, super realistic, and just plain funny, and Melissa's earnest (and sometimes exasperated) report on what each type of dragons demands is nice, too. A great gift for dragon fanciers or fantasy lovers
