"How to Begin and Other Essays on Art" is a collection of essays by Danish writer, art critic and visual artist Bo Gorzelak Pedersen (b. 1971). The essays cover a great variety of topics, including everything from composers Olivier Messiaen, Richard Wagner and Gunnar Berg to Golden Era adult star Sue Nero, German artist Joseph Beuys and Italian horror director Dario Argento. The book also has essays on understanding abstract art, on art babble, Outsider Art, female beauty in art, and on the kind of doubt that many artists have to deal with. A common thread throughout many of the different essays is the author's dedication to the American poet Charles Olson and to Olson's way of thinking about art. Bo Gorzelak Pedersen writes art reviews for a Danish art paper. He currently lives in Randers, Denmark.
