You won't become a great player without understanding the basics of playing soccer. One of the fundamental basics of becoming a great footballer is to "NEVER LOSE THE BALL". That is when you are given pass, you must do everything possible to make sure opponent does not collect the ball from you till you can pass to your team member or score.
