This is an excellent book, both for the professional and for the layman interested in developing his or her social skills. Unfortunately, Dr. Broadbent died about six years ago, so he won't be updating this book. But it is well worth buying used. The book is not written in technical language; instead it's playfully written in the typical "pop psychology" style common for the time in which it was written. Don't let that put you off. The book's psychotherapeutic pedigree is solid and includes such classical therapists as Hellmuth Kaiser.
This helped.

OK, a little about me. I've up to this point always had a hard time "fitting in". Always trying to be a people pleaser. That's until I found this *wonderful* book. The author does a wonderful job of helping the reader truely get connected to their authentic-self. It helped me communicate congruently with others. While I don't do everything it recommends unconciously yet, I know it will come with time as outlined in the book. This author has a wonderful sense of humor. He also has some wonderful metaphors he uses in describing what he is talking about.Well Done!!!!!!! 5 Stars.
