When a Stamp-Collecting Trollusk returns Reggie McLeod's new Squeezle skin hat, they become friends. This description may be from another edition of this product.
How the Trollusk Got His Hat tells the story of a Trollusk who leaves his monster-land to our world in search of the owner of a hat. The Trollusk is a very thoughtful monster, but everywhere he goes people are frightened of his appearance, making the Trollusk's task unnecessarily difficult. But still the Trollusk perseveres. Eventually he returns the hat to its owner, Reggie, and Reggie and the Trollusk become good friends. The story is very simple and very sweet, with a huge helping of humor thrown in. What makes this one of Mercer Mayer's best, however, is the complexity of the drawings. For this isn't just the tale of the Trollusk. Behind him in the various scenes are numerous other stories, like the story of the girl and her mother, and of the Trollusk's mouse friend, and the hot air balloon. This is a book children will want to read over and over, and parents won't mind in the least, because each time they too will discover something new.
I ALWAYS Look Forward to Reading This One To The Grandkids!

I just LOVE this quirky little book with fun story line and amusing illustrations! Each page has tons of innocuous and incongruous little details for my Grandkids (of all ages) to point out and snicker at! I even read it for fun sometimes by myself. You really should try this delightful tale!
as much fun for the reader as for the child it is read to

A relatively pointless plot, involving the Trollusk's quest to recover his lost "squeezle-skin" hat, is perfect for holding the attention of the pre-reader and serves as pretext for the delightful illustrative wit of Mercer Mayer. Once upon a time I read this story to my oldest child so often that I could just turn the pages and he would provide the text from memory, a great prelude to reading. Even so, the story takes a back seat to Mayer's wonderful illustrations. The adult reader begins to notice all the visual references to "Island Joe" and wonders -- who is Island Joe? What is his story? Can I get an Island Joe franchise? It's all great fun. Today, my oldest is 24 and I have squirreled away two copies of this book -- one for him to read to his children some day, and one for grandpa to read to them when they come to visit.
