A glimpse into the thought process of the most loved American Artist.

Norman Rockwell has been my hero since I was in the second grade. I loved his paintings, calendars, and magazine covers. He didn't paint still life. He painted stories. The soldier coming home. Parents looking down at their sleeping boys, the war news in their hand. The Four Freedoms so profoundly displayed. Is this a how to book? Yes and no. Does he spell out what he does step by step? No. He does tell how he comes up with an idea. How he picks models and props. Shows the pictures that he combines to make the whole. Discusses the charcoal drawing to solidify the idea. Makes a color drawing to work out problems with color and then paints the picture. I felt like I was sitting in the studio and hearing him share his ideas. It is an interesting glimpse into the thought processes of America's most loved Artist!
