The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of multi- grade classes on students' academic performance. I wanted to find out how this problem of grouping classes could affect student's performance in mathematics. I after administering the pre-test started the intervention programme. For eight weeks the grade five and six students were exposed to various tests in their classes. I used tests, observation checklist, questionnaires and an interview schedule to gather the data. The responses were presented using graphs and tables then analyzed in order to help answer the research questions. The results from all the instruments were used to prove or indicate that multi- grade classes do have a negative effect on students' academic performance in Mathematics. I also found out that teachers were been pressured in this type of classroom setting. Since the country's performance rate in mathematics is so poor, I also made recommendations that could be used to help in addressing the problem.
