How Did I Get Here? A Journey of Purpose, tells the story of a young girl whose destructive, bitter and often hostile way of life takes her from one danger to another, while living, often homeless on the streets of New York. Brought up in a home absent from the teachings of Christ, her story follows her from her childhood, through her teenage years and into her young adult years, revealing how she defies her parents and all authority, living with no direction. She would often lose herself in her own mind, a mind shaped by words that would create a being, so worthless and uncaring, it would set her on a path to self-destruct. Being the person, she believed herself to be, "a person of no value, without hope and of no worth", she was determined to bring to fruition the self-fulfilling prophecy that was spoken over her life. She was on a mission to innocently and unknowingly abort a life, a life she was designed to become. While running from her own demons, she runs straight into the arms of a loving Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she knew nothing about, but who knew "all" about her; He knew her and loved her before she was conceived in her mother's womb, a love that would lovingly and divinely guide her through a maze of dangers, seen and unseen. Determined to live and not die, she died that day to life as she knew it, only to start her journey to becoming the woman, God designed her to be. A metamorphosis occurred, changing her completely, from the inside out. Despite all she goes through, "How Did I Get Here", reveals, her life from two points: Her life before the cross or before her personal encounter with the Lord and her life and struggles after the cross as revealed in, Part II, How Did I Get Here, The Journey Continues. Her life was a life of purpose from its inception. Follow her as she commits to change, continually dying to, not only her life, but her mind as she once knew it, transforming her from one being, to another, as her journey continues. This author is transparent, revealing as much as could be allowed, and therefore, feels deeply that if one person is helped by her life, then all she has learned, all that she has suffered, lived and gone through has not been in vain. Her hearts cry to the lost and discouraged, parents and children alike, " You are a person of great value, no matter how deep and dark the hole you find yourself, you can rise from a pit of despair to a place of purpose, a Kingdom purpose for which God wants to use you". "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
