Depression is awful. It can destroy you if you let it. I know I did. This mental health memoir takes place in my hometown of Blackpool at a time when depression was still a dirty word. I had it pretty good; I was in my early twenties, I had lots of friends, a nice place to live and was studying at art school. The depression hit me hard and took everything I loved away from me. I didn't know what was happening at first; the society I lived in never spoke about such things. This memoir is a warning about what can happen when mental health problems are not dealt with, spoken about or given the support they need. Hopefully you will see this book as a guide on what NOT to do when your mental health takes a tumble. Don't let it ruin your life like I did.
