Spiritual reading for the new Millenium!!

A timeless and beautiful piece of literature. So many feelings all packed in one short book. Anyone trying to connect with the universe that surrounds us must read this book. The main character, La Amortajada, defines for us in simple words the essence of our own existence and how we connect with the spiritual side in all of us. Death of our physical body only provides the opportunity to become one with Eternity.

Un excelente libro

La última niebla es un libro que te deja pensar, sacar tus propias ideas sobre la trama. Hay una dualidad de realidad muy bien lograda en la cual la niebla te introduce de una a otra realidad. María Luisa es la interpretación máxima del surrealismo, este libro es realmente excelente. Le recomiendo al que lo lea que lea también La amortajada, otra excelente novela de María Luisa Bombal

maria luisa bombal traspaso las barreras que en esa epoca,e incluso hoy, pone la sociedad chilena a lss mujeres, sobre todo a las de la clase alta tradicional.su obra muestra la fuerza y las pasiones que tiene cada mujer, y la eterna busqueda del amor y del sentido de la vida.

Thought provoking and inquisitive

Although I had to read this novel for a Spanish literature class, I found myself enjoying it immensely. There are so many questions that we have about what happens after death. This novel shows you one possibility.Ana Maria is in limbo between life and death, and although she is dead to our world, she can still hear, see and feel. As she lies on her deathbed, she has memories of her life with each of the people who come close to her bedside. Her tumultuous and unhappy life leaves her unable to die and rest peacefully until she has released her anger and sadness in this world. Through her memories and seeing those at her deathbed for the last time, she is able to die in peace and rest for all eternity.This novel is captivating as it leads you through her life post-mortem. The narrator is sometimes Ana Maria herself and sometimes another force. At times, she even has the spirit from beyond pulling her closer to her final resting place. The novel is not always exciting, but it definitely makes you question religion's take on what happens after death.
