This book developed from the Ekphrastic Poetry Workshop on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the Tortuga Gallery, 901 Edith Blvd SE in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This book keeps expanding as more poets are inspired by this unique collection of artwork. Albuquerque poets in attendance were surrounded by Denise Weaver Ross' show "House of Cards: The Whole Deck."A free poetry workshop was led by Jules Nyquist, founder of Jules' Poetry Playhouse. An ekphrastic poem is a vivid description of a scene, or, more commonly, a work of art. Through the imaginative act of narrating and reflecting on the "action" of a painting or sculpture, the poet may amplify and expand its meaning.Poems were conceived at the workshop and are gathered here along with Denise Weaver Ross' artwork reproduced alongside the poems to further understanding of the poets' muse. We hope you enjoy this collection and will be inspired to write your own poems, or to enjoy the artwork
