The attractive and varied photographs of examples shown within a room setting make this is a very good reference and a valuable addition to any design library. See my review for the 1999 hardcover edition.

Great Inspiration

Exactly what I was looking for... a "visual portfolio" to help me decide what I wanted in a fireplace for the setting I have. Lots of photographs depicting every style from rustic to contemporary or traditional, and all in tastefully decorated spaces that are just as inspiring. This book provided me with more than enough visual information to put together a plan of my own, and I know I will refer back to it for further decorating ideas.
